What is
"Fist of the North Star"?
This work was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1983 to 1988 by Buronson (original story) and Tetsuo Hara (manga). Set at the end of the century, when civilization was lost due to nuclear war and violence ruled the world, the story depicts Kenshiro, the inheritor of the Hokuto Shinken, growing up as a savior with love and sorrow on his shoulders. This work has become a social phenomenon.
The year is 199X. The world is engulfed in nuclear flames. Civilized society has disappeared, and the world has entered an age of violence and the weak and the strong. A few years later, Kenshiro, who has become a master of the Hokuto Shinken, an assassination fist passed down from generation to generation, sets out on a journey with the woman he loves, Yuria. However, Kenshiro is defeated by Shin, a user of the Nanto Ancient Fist who loves Yuria, and she is taken away from him with seven scars on her chest. In order to get Julia back, Kenshiro wanders in the wilderness. There, Kenshiro has a fateful encounter with a speechless girl named Rin and a boy named Bat who is living a harsh life. Guided by the fate of Hokuto Shinken, Kenshiro continues to fight the powerful enemies that rule the turbulent world and save the weak. Through battles with the users of the Nanto (South Star), which is the counterpart of the Hokuto Shinken, encounters with his older brother Toki, who watches over Kenshiro, and battles with Lao, the eldest brother and strongest man in the Hokuto, who Toki and Kenshiro are targeting, Kenshiro grows into a true savior of the turbulent world.
